Jon Pyzel grew up in Santa Barbara, California, and started surfing in junior high and quickly fell deep into a newfound passion. He later moved to the North Shore where he got a job as shadow shaper for Jeff Bushman.

Pyzel Surfboards itself began in a backyard shaping room on the North Shore of Hawaii around 1995 when Jon Pyzel was approached to make a surfboard for young grom JJF. Since then, spearheaded by John John Florence, 2 x world champion and expert waterman, Pyzel has evolved to become one of the world’s best-known and leading edge surfboard companies.
